Inspirational girl with no hands just won a national handwriting contest

Anaya Ellick is rightly being praised as an inspiration.

The seven-year-old was born with no hands, and she doesn’t use prosthetics.

Yet that did not stop her winning a national handwriting competition in the US.

When she writes, Anaya holds a pencil between her arms.

She also stands over the desk, in order to get the right angle to write.

Anaya is a first-grader at Greenbrier Christian Academy in Virginia, and she picked up the Nicholas Maxim Special Award for Excellence in Manuscript Penmanship.

Virginia first grader Anaya Ellick, 7, has such good handwriting, she beat out 50 other youngsters from around the country to win a national handwriting contest. If that's not impressive enough, Little Anaya was born without hands.

Her principal, Tracy Cox, told CNN: ‘Anaya is a remarkable young lady.

‘She does not let anything get in the way of doing what she has set out to do.’

And her mum, Bianca Middleton, said: ‘She ties her shoes. She gets dressed by herself. She doesn’t really need any assistance to do anything.’
